The basic colors or primary colors as Red, Green and Blue are also referred to as additive primary colors. Ensuring consistency of colors is very important and for this, there should be a clear demarcation of the colors to be used. The major difference between the RGB and CMYK color sets is that they are actually considered opposites as far the color palettes are concerned. The primary colors Red, Green and Blue are additive primary colors which have white light and the CMYK palette on the other hand does not have the component of white light. Absence of white light can be interpreted as black. Black ink is used to produce darker shades of ink in printing.
When it comes to colors, there are majorly two groups known as the RBG and CMYK. Red, blue and green is one combination and these colors are visible on all computer monitors. Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and the key color Black is the other group that is used in full fledged color printing for advertisements and hoardings. More than the CMYK model, the RBG model is pretty popular owing to the reason that the colors are seen on the monitor. Adobe RBG is used to print pictures that are clicked by high end digital cameras. The three colors are used in varying amounts and that way the shades vary a lot. This group is ideal for monitors, television screens and printing ordinary paper.
In the CMYK model of printing, each and every color is placed on its own printing plate. That is the reason why four plates are used for printing on hoardings. The process of printing pictures with the CMYK group of colors is pretty simple and is very cost effective too. The model is the best for advertisements that are done on a large scale. If you are still confused about the difference between CMYK and RBG then you should know that RBG is nothing but white light that changes into different colors depending on the wave length but CMYK is pure ink that is printed on a paper.
You should always use the right groups while you are getting your material printed. Any color variations in the wrong proportions can be disastrous and turn out to be a waste of money. Be clear about the material you are printing and that will make your job easier.
